1. Who we are

MockClip (mockclip.com) is operated by Invisiblepuzzle Unipessoal LDA, a company registered in Portugal, which is the controller of the personal data described here. For anything about your data, write to info@mockclip.com.

2. What we collect and why

You can use the editor without an account. It runs in your browser: the names, messages and photos you add, and the videos you export, are processed on your device and are not uploaded to us.

  • Account: when you sign in with Google or GitHub we receive your name, email address and profile picture. We store them with your plan and usage counts (exports, AI generations) to run your account and apply your plan's limits. Legal basis: performing our contract with you.
  • Payments: Stripe collects your card details, billing address and, if you give one, your VAT number; we never see your card number. We keep your Stripe customer ID, what you bought and your subscription status. Legal basis: contract, and our legal obligation to keep invoices.
  • Email: we send account and purchase emails (welcome, purchase confirmations, Stripe receipts) and, if a checkout you started expires, one reminder with a link to finish it. Legal basis: contract and our legitimate interest in completing your purchase. New accounts also get a few tips in their first week and paying customers a request for feedback (legitimate interest); each of these has an unsubscribe link.
  • Product updates: news about new templates and features, about once a month, only if you said yes (accounts created before 4 October 2026 were told and can say no at any time). Legal basis: consent. You can opt out with the link in any email or under Email preferences on your account page.
  • AI clip generation: when you use "Describe it", your prompt and, when you refine a clip, its text are sent to OpenAI to write the clip. We do not store the prompt or the result, and we ask OpenAI not to store them either. Legal basis: contract.
  • API and MCP server: if you create an API key we store it in hashed form with its label, when it was last used and the IP addresses that used it in the last 24 hours, so you and we can spot misuse. Clips created through the API are saved as short links so they can be opened. Legal basis: contract and legitimate interest in security.
  • Feedback and testimonials: if you answer our feedback form we store what you wrote, your email address and, if you agree to be quoted, the name and role you gave and the consent you ticked. Legal basis: consent.
  • Support chat: messages you send through the chat bubble, and the email address you give there, are handled by Crisp. Legal basis: legitimate interest in answering you.
  • Analytics: we use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views and a few product events without cookies or cross-site tracking. To know which channels bring visitors, we record how you first arrived (a campaign tag such as utm_source, or the referring site) in a first-party cookie and your browser's storage, and attach it to your account and checkout if you sign up or buy. We also keep aggregate counts of exports. Legal basis: legitimate interest in understanding and improving MockClip.
  • Security: our hosting provider logs requests, including IP addresses, and we rate-limit requests per IP address in memory to stop abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interest.

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or make automated decisions about you.

3. Cookies and browser storage

  • Sign-in session: a cookie that keeps you signed in. Needed for the account to work.
  • mc_src: a first-party cookie (180 days) and matching browser-storage entry with your first traffic source, described under Analytics.
  • Support chat: Crisp sets its own cookies to keep your chat conversation.
  • Editor: your browser's local and session storage keep your editor preferences and unsaved clip drafts. They stay on your device.

We use no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

4. Who processes your data

We use these providers, each under a data-processing agreement:

  • Vercel: hosting, request logs and Web Analytics.
  • Google (Firebase / Cloud Firestore): our database for accounts, plans and preferences.
  • Stripe: payments, tax and invoices. For payment data Stripe also acts as an independent controller.
  • Resend: sending email and keeping the list of people who agreed to product updates.
  • Crisp: the support chat.
  • OpenAI: writing clips from your prompts in "Describe it".
  • Google Fonts: delivers the site's font, so your browser connects to Google.

Google and GitHub handle signing in under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose data when the law requires it.

5. International transfers

Some of these providers process data outside the European Economic Area, mainly in the United States. Where they do, the transfer relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. How long we keep it

  • Account data: for as long as you have an account. Ask us to delete it and we do so within 30 days.
  • Payment records and invoices: 10 years, as Portuguese tax law requires.
  • Marketing consent: the record of your yes or no, for as long as we need to be able to show it. If you opt out we stop emailing you right away and remove you from the mailing list.
  • Support chats and request logs: for the periods our providers (Crisp, Vercel) apply, or until you ask us to delete a chat.
  • Traffic-source cookie: 180 days from your last visit.

7. Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict how we use it, or to receive it in a portable format. You can object to processing based on legitimate interest and withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what was done before. Write to info@mockclip.com; we answer within one month.

To stop marketing email, use the unsubscribe link in any email or untick product updates under Email preferences on your account page.

You can also complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the CNPD (cnpd.pt), or to the authority where you live.

8. Children

MockClip is not meant for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the latest version. If a change affects how we use your data in a significant way, we tell account holders by email. Our Terms of Service cover the rest of how MockClip works.
